Changed my mind...

...on the rabies shots. So I had my first "installment" yesterday. At $225 a shot (three shots required) that feels like the only vaccine that is actually worth something. I decided to get it because even though when you get bitten by an animal it still does require additional vaccination, it is only two shots as opposed to a month-long treatment without the pre-exposure vaccination. Also timing is a little less critical for the post-bite treatment.
The shot made me hyper enough that I went straight to REI (riding in the pouring rain) to check out some travel stuff I need. I did spent a staggering 5 minutes in the clothing section, which is more than I usually spent there per year. I didn't find what I was looking for, though. I need some white clothing - apparently mosquitoes aren't too keen on that color.
I did find a neat baseball hat with an integrated mosquito net that covers the head. I am thinking looking like a dork for 3 months is not too bad if I can avoid some of the diseases flown around by the local insects.
I have also started to learn Kiswahili. I can now count to 10, but I have a feeling that won't be enough to prevent starving. Oh wait, mkate is bread. I guess that is all I need to know.
